  • Reconciling utility pole inventory
  • Comparing and improving fiber management systems
  • Mapping and documenting facility locations
  • Identifying process improvements that enhance efficiency and service delivery
This role offers a balance of independent project work, field visits, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic decision-making.

You Will Also:
  • Obtain easements, permits, and approvals as needed
  • Make key decisions related to project timelines, technical design, and cost analysis
  • Juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment
Responsibilities Breakdown
  • Develop and support work order packets – 65%
  • Maintain facility records – 25%
  • Complete new project cost estimates – 5%
  • Special projects and duties as assigned – 5%

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, engineering focus is a plus (Associate degree or technical equivalent considered)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Solid project management and analytical skills

  • Knowledge of OSP design, construction, and industry standards
  • Understanding of permitting, easements, and property rights

  • Willingness to learn Smithville-specific design practices within 9–12 months

Work Environment

  • 15% work in a vehicle or enclosed outdoor shelter
  • 10% exposure to outside weather
  • 5% work in non–climate-controlled areas (e.g., warehouse)
Physical requirements include frequent sitting; occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting up to 30 lbs.
