The Opportunity We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Hudsonville region seeking Packaging Engineers. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test new packaging solutions for manufactured products, ensuring product protection and cost-efficiency. Select and qualify appropriate packaging materials, components, and equipment based on product requirements and industry standards. Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing teams to integrate packaging into the product development lifecycle. Optimize existing packaging designs for cost reduction, improved performance, sustainability, and manufacturing efficiency. Develop and maintain detailed packaging specifications, bills of material (BOMs), and documentation. Conduct packaging performance testing (e.g., ISTA, ASTM) to validate designs and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Investigate and resolve packaging-related issues on the production line, during transit, or in customer use. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. 3-5 years of experience in packaging design, development, or engineering within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and strong knowledge of diverse packaging materials and their properties. Experience optimizing packaging for manufacturing efficiency, automation, and supply chain logistics. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot packaging issues on production lines and implement quality improvements.
