The Paralegal at JVAM is a member of the legal team at the firm. This role works collaboratively with the entire team (director, attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants) to serve the needs of the business consistent with the vision and values of the firm. Matter Management & Legal Project Coordination Coordinate and manage assigned legal matters in collaboration with attorneys, ensuring tasks, deadlines, and deliverables are tracked and completed efficiently. Serve as the primary operational coordinator for matters, organizing documentation, communications, and workflows across attorneys, clients, and third parties. Monitor case or transaction timelines and proactively identify upcoming deadlines, filings, and deliverables. Maintain matter organization within the firm’s practice management system (Clio), ensuring records, notes, and documentation remain current and accessible. Legal Research & Document Preparation Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review. Draft, revise, and format legal documents including contracts, pleadings, entity formation documents, corporate filings, correspondence, and internal memoranda. Prepare document packages for filings, closings, or transactions. Assist attorneys with due diligence, document review, and issue tracking. Entity Formation & Corporate Compliance Prepare and file business entity formations and amendments with the Colorado Secretary of State and other relevant jurisdictions. Track periodic reports, compliance filings, and regulatory deadlines for client entities. Maintain corporate records and ensure proper documentation of governance materials. Client & Stakeholder Communication Serve as a point of contact for clients on routine matters, providing status updates and coordinating document collection. Communicate with government agencies, courts, title companies, and other third parties as needed. Coordinate meetings, closings, and document execution with clients and opposing counsel. Operational & Administrative Support Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, transactions, negotiations, and client meetings. Organize and maintain digital files, ensuring adherence to firm document management standards. Track time and ensure billable tasks are properly recorded where appropriate. Coordinate with the firm’s administrative team regarding filings, service of process, and document logistics. Process Improvement & Workflow Optimization Identify opportunities to improve matter workflows, document templates, and operational efficiency. Support implementation of legal technology tools and internal processes that enhance productivity and client service. Participate in developing best practices for matter management and document handling. Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants across JVAM’s offices. Contribute to a team-based environment focused on efficiency, responsiveness, and exceptional client service. Support firm initiatives related to growth, practice development, and operational excellence. Position Requirements Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies preferred but not required. Registered Notary Public. Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to effectively prioritize, manage time-sensitive documents, and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment. Knowledge and ability to operate within Micrsoft Teams, Clio, Colorado Courts eFiling, Simplifile, and other platforms and applications as required. The mid-point salary for this position is $85,000/year. JVAM determines compensation on a variety of factors including education, experience, and location. Eligibility for discretionary bonuses. 100% employer paid health insurance (including spouse and dependents). 100% employer paid dental insurance (including spouse and dependents). 100% employer paid vision insurance (including spouse and dependents).
