Job Description

Paralegal

About the Role:

This is a dynamic opportunity for a skilled Paralegal to take on a hybrid role that combines substantive legal work with high-level administrative responsibilities. You will play a critical role in supporting attorneys on complex litigation matters while also helping to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

Unlike traditional paralegal roles, this position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to case strategy and bill for substantive legal work (anticipated 500–800 billable hours annually). You will be part of a growing office, working closely with attorneys in a collaborative environment where your contributions are visible and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

Billable Legal Work

  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, reports, and legal correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings
  • Assist in case strategy development and file analysis
  • Prepare exhibits, chronologies, and document summaries
  • Support trial preparation and hearing materials
  • E-file pleadings in state and federal courts
  • Review, organize, and manage litigation documents

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Manage attorney calendars and track critical deadlines
  • Communicate with courts regarding filings and scheduling
  • Maintain and organize electronic case files in line with firm and client requirements
  • Reconcile attorney expenses and coordinate with accounting for billing accuracy
  • Assist with client reporting requirements
  • Coordinate travel and logistics for attorneys as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree required
  • Paralegal certificate strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a law firm or litigation environment
  • Experience in insurance coverage or defense litigation preferred
  • Ability to independently handle substantive legal work
  • Strong understanding of court procedures and e-filing systems
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Why You Should Join:

  • More Than a Traditional Paralegal Role: Take on meaningful, billable legal work that directly contributes to case outcomes and firm success
  • High-Impact Work: Be involved in complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation matters that expand your expertise
  • Visibility & Ownership: Work closely with attorneys and play a key role in case progression and client service
