Do you want to help change lives each day? As a Paraprofessional with Gersh Autism, you will work independently with a school-age student, or as part of a team to assist students, with behavior management within a structured school environment. Our Paraprofessionals work to assist students who are on the Autism Spectrum. To best promote students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, Paraprofessionals are responsible for providing necessary academic accommodations as outlined in the students’ IEP and continuously working with students to meet specific academic and behavior related goals.
Paraprofessional Responsibilities Include:
- Maintaining a consistent and safe environment for students.
- Assisting and accompanying children in all activities throughout the day.
- Supporting teacher/teacher assistant in implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and behavior plans for assigned student(s).
- Providing small-group and one-on-one instruction, providing behavior support, and supervising students
- Communicating effectively, building relationships with students, following instructions, organizing learning materials and environments, and following ethical and professional standards.
- Assisting educators in devising strategies to reinforce materials and skills to students.
- Actively supporting the mission and core values of the school and organization.
- Opportunity for professional development! Complete 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) course under supervision of a BCBA to become certified.

Requirements
Paraprofessional Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Teaching Assistant Skills Test (ATAS) preferred
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum preferred
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check
Working Conditions
- Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 3:00pm
- Occasional before and after schoolwork hours at the discretion of the Administrative staff
- School / Classroom setting
Physical requirements
- Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others and in some cases may need to implement CPI procedure
- Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and in some cases be able to lift a child.
- Must be 18 years or older.
