Nature of Work:
Provides orientation and ongoing training and coaching to Healthy Start Parent Educators. The Healthy Starts Parent Educator works with families by implementing the Parents As Teachers (PAT) model, which emphasizes parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families. The parent educator implements the curriculum in the home through ongoing home visits to promote and foster the healthy development of children.
Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)
Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalency certificate and at least three years of experience in a Parents As Teachers community-based program OR
- Possession of an associate's degree from an accredited college with at least two years of experience in a Parents As Teachers, home visiting program or community-based program working with young children and families OR
- Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, social work, psychology or a related field, with at least six months to one year of experience in a Parents as Teachers, home visiting program or community-based program working with young children and families
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
Parents As Teachers curriculum experience preferred
