Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / CHINO HILLS STATE PARK

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).

The Park Aide reporting location is Chino Hills State Park, located at 4500 Carbon Canyon Rd., Brea, CA 92886 and as assigned the position may report to 4721 Sapphire Rd., Chino Hills, CA 91709. The Visitor Services Park Aide works under the immediate supervision of the Supervising State Park Ranger and under the direction of the on-duty State Park Ranger.

The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. All parks listed are managed by a State Park Superintendent V and further organized into the following functions: Visitor Services, Aquatic Services, Maintenance Services, and Administrative Services.

The Park Aides primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to customer service, contact station operation, facility and equipment maintenance, administration, and other related duties. The Park Aide will perform the duties dressed in full State Park uniform and follow the required grooming standards of the department. The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be in good condition at the start of the workday.

Due to heavy visitor attendance and revenue collection, the Park Aide position may be required to work weekends and holidays. Evening and early morning shifts may be necessary for operational need. During peak season, this position may be required to work longer than 8 hours per day when requested, but typically not more than 40 hours a week.

This position is subject to live scan fingerprint clearance. This position is intermittent and may work up to 189 days in a 12-month period.

This position requires a valid California Class C Drivers license.
