PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT)SIERRA DISTRICT / TAHOE SECTOR / TAHOE STATE RECREATION AREA


The reporting location for this position is the Maintenance Shop in Tahoe City across the street from Tahoe State Recreation Area (TSRA). This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The primary duties of the Park Maintenance Assistant are to complete housekeeping and miscellaneous semi-skilled maintenance tasks at TSRA, Truckee River Outlet (TRO), Kings Beach and six additional day use beaches along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Additional duties may include small equipment operation and maintenance, and resource management work. This position may act as lead person to seasonal employees and volunteers as assigned. This position may be assigned work in other parks District wide. This position may be required to work weekends and holidays. This position requires working outdoors during inclement weather including subfreezing temperatures.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position requires a valid Class C drivers license. You must answer the questions addressing your drivers license on your application. Ensure you provide your drivers license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The incumbents work schedule will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Saturday to Wednesday.


The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Working Conditions

Typical working conditions include working outdoor year-round at an elevation of approximately 6,000-7,000 feet. Depending on the time of year, normal weather will include snow, wind, rain, sun, sleet, and below freezing temperatures and heat up to 90 degrees. Working on uneven terrain, inside large vehicles, in maintenance shops, on ladders or scaffolding, on top of buildings, or inside offices is also typical. This position may be required to work weekends and holidays
