Position Summary:The Facilities Consultant will provide expert consultation to CLC leadership when evaluating potential transitional housing sites. The consultant will assess a property's infrastructure-including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, and security systems-to determine its overall condition, compliance with applicable codes, and suitability for occupancy. This is a part-time, as-needed role ideal for an experienced building engineer, facilities director, or licensed contractor with a strong background in older and multi-unit buildings.
Key Responsibilities:-
Conduct on-site inspections of prospective and existing housing buildings.

Evaluate condition and functionality of major building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevators, fire suppression, security, etc.).

Identify potential code violations, deferred maintenance issues, and safety risks.

Prepare concise written reports summarizing findings, cost considerations, and recommendations for repair or upgrade.

Advise CLC leadership on feasibility, estimated capital improvements, and readiness for program operations.

Review and interpret building plans, permits, and inspection reports as needed.

Coordinate with architects, contractors, and property owners during pre-acquisition or pre-lease assessments.

Provide occasional follow-up consultations during renovation or operational phases.

Minimum 10 years of experience in facilities management, building engineering, construction management, or related field.

Strong knowledge of NYC building systems, code compliance, and DOB regulations.

Experience inspecting older or multi-unit residential buildings preferred.

Ability to prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple building sites.

Professional certifications (PE, Licensed Engineer, Master Electrician, or Building Inspector) a plus.

Part-time / as-needed basis depending on building acquisition pipeline.

Compensation: Hourly 40.00 to 70.00, commensurate with experience.
