Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a part-time Patient IntakeProfessional for an open position within the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) Adult Outpatient Program, with cliniclocations in Denver, Aurora, and Arvada. The ARTS Adult Outpatient Program is within the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. ARTSAdult Outpatient clinics provide drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial and pharmacological treatment for adults. Programs in variousclinic locations include traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient and may contain specialty services for clients referred by thecriminal justice system, county departments of human services, and services for pregnant women, or gender responsive services.

Thisposition manages the intake processes for all new and returning patients entering Substance Use Disorder treatment and addictions recoverywith the ARTS Adult Outpatient Program. The person in this role will possess professional knowledge of, and effectively apply, HealthInsurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and CFR42 Part II regulations to ensure patient data privacy and confidentiality aremaintained. This position must effectively manage, complete or delegate multiple tasks and assignments, and resolve any obstacles orchallenges in a timely, efficient manner.

This is a part-time position and scheduled hours can vary from 20 - 32 hours per week.The person in this role is expected to work Monday - Friday 5:30 am - 12:00 pm.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure the efficient and smooth daily functionality of the ARTS AOP Intake Department.

  • Determine appropriate treatment option(s) for drug or alcohol assessment, SUD therapy modalities, and/or suitable pharmacologicaltreatment for SUD patients.

  • Delegate and assign patient intakes, treatment modalities, and other SUD and/or MedicationAssisted Treatment (MAT) modalities and customize assignments according to AOP clinicians' specializations or focus areas for providingtreatment.

  • Manage, create, and maintain multiple patient information databases and spreadsheets accurately, efficiently, andin a timely manner.

  • Provide customized referrals of appropriate substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and/or MAT servicesthat are customized to each patient entering treatment at ARTS Adult Outpatient Program (AOP) clinic locations.

  • Manage andmaintain productive professional relationships with ARTS-internal partners and external agencies or organizations.

  • Ensurethat patients' past and present financial, fee payment and/or back fees data are entered into electronic patient health information recordsat point of intake, and throughout the patients' treatment(s) received from ARTS.

  • Conduct outreach activities to engagepatients in SUD treatment and/or MAT services at AOP clinic locations.

  • Ensure all patient data relating to AOP IntakeDepartment functions (for example, PHI or other HIPAA-protected patient data) are accurate, comprehensive, and kept up to date with the mostrecent data available.

  • Provide regular instruction, resources, and professional development opportunities to AOP staffmembers for intake procedures and rules so that new, restarting and returning patients may enter SUD treatment at AOP clinics as quickly andsmoothly as possible.

  • Analyze existing intake procedures and determine areas with obstacles or challenges and to report suchobstacles and challenges to the AOP Program Director of Quality Assurance and/or AOP Executive Management staff as appropriate.

  • Promptly inform AOP Executive Management staff of any issues or challenges affecting the operation or organization of the AOPIntake Department, and recommend timely, effective solutions to resolve such issues or challenges and/or assist in implementing suchsolutions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or AOP Management Team.

Work Location:

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and will rotate throughout clinic locations Denver,Aurora, and Arvada Colorado.

Qualifications:

MinimumQualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, human services,psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

    • A combination of educationand related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One (1) year of professional experience in Mental Health, Behavioral Health, case management, research of Mental Health,Behavioral Health, or closely related field.
