Job Summary


The Part-Time Purchasing Consultant is responsible, under limited direction, for performing professional work of advanced and technical administrative functions of the Purchasing Department of GGC. These functions include asset tracking, create requisitions and purchase orders.

Responsibilities

  • Administers bids and contracts, prepares bid forms, handles bidding process, analyzes bid results, and make recommendations.
  • Purchases goods and services in accordance with purchasing requisitions.
  • Provides liaison assistance between GGC departments and vendors. Assists vendors and departments in researching the status of payments, shipping dates, purchase orders, bids/proposals, and invoices.
  • Participates in evaluating quality and type of individual products based on users' needs.
  • Assists GGC departments in the preparation and requests for price quotes.
  • Maintains purchase order and contract files.
  • Maintain asset property tracking on all campus major items.
  • Presents training materials as approved by the Director of Purchasing.
  • Assists in training support staff; Attends functions/meetings as required; Performs other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of government purchasing experience (or 3 years direct experience as a USG Buyer or equivalent)
  • Certification as a Georgia Certified Purchasing Associate or ability to obtain certification within 10 months of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of government purchasing experience (or 4 years direct experience as a USG Buyer or equivalent)
  • Certification as a Georgia Certified Purchasing Associate
  • National Purchasing designation
  • Proficiency in USG PeopleSoft Financial System's procurement modules
