About The Role

The Pastoral Care Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, education and supervision of pastoral care workers; and will oversee the provision of pastoral and spiritual care to patients with palliative and end of life care needs, their families and/or carers. The role will be dedicated to the SLHD Specialist Palliative Care Service and will manage the delivery of pastoral care, ensuring that this service is responsive to and respectful of diverse religious beliefs; including spiritual assessment, interventions and monitoring of outcomes.

We are looking for someone who has ...

  • Completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent as per PD2011_004.
  • A valid NSW drivers licence (P2 licence acceptable).
  • Highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on negotiation, conflict resolution and liaison.
  • The awareness of spiritual care needs within the context of palliative and end of life care.

About Working For SLHD

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022) .

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
