QualificationsRequired Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Preferred: Associates Degree, Medical Terminology or Health Care Management
Core Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with prior authorization, financial clearance, or revenue cycle processes (oncology or specialty care preferred).
- Familiarity with EPIC workqueues, reporting tools, and operational dashboards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Ability to communicate workflow improvement opportunities clearly to clinical and operational teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

ResponsibilitiesRole Summary
Supports timely patient access to radiation oncology and oncology-related therapies by managing authorization workflows, monitoring performance within the EPIC environment, and identifying opportunities to improve access, throughput, and financial clearance across the Cancer Center.
Prior Authorization & Financial Clearance
- Manage prior authorization processes for radiation oncology treatments, imaging, and oncology-related medications.
- Coordinate with payers to obtain timely authorization and resolve denials or requests for additional clinical documentation.
- Partner with radiation oncology providers, nursing teams, and pharmacy staff to ensure accurate clinical documentation supports authorization requirements.
- Monitor authorization status to prevent treatment delays and maintain continuity of care for oncology patients.
EPIC Workflow & Performance Monitoring
- Utilize EPIC reporting tools and workqueues to track authorization performance, treatment readiness, and access timelines.
- Pull, analyze, and interpret operational reports related to authorization turnaround times, denials, and scheduling readiness.
- Maintain data accuracy within EPIC to support reliable reporting and operational oversight.
Operational Improvement & Access Management
- Identify trends, workflow gaps, and barriers impacting timely patient access to oncology services.
- Communicate performance insights and improvement opportunities to radiation oncology and broader Cancer Center teams.
- Collaborate with scheduling, clinical, and financial teams to streamline authorization workflows and improve treatment readiness.
- Support development of standardized processes and best practices for authorization and financial clearance.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between clinical teams, pharmacy, revenue cycle, and payers to facilitate efficient access to oncology care.
- Escalate complex authorization or payer issues to appropriate operational or clinical leadership when needed.
- Contribute to Cancer Center initiatives focused on improving patient access, care coordination, and operational performance.
Professional Growth & Leadership Development
- Participate in operational improvement initiatives within the Cancer Center.
- Develop expertise in oncology access workflows and EPIC reporting capabilities.
- Serve as a resource to teammates regarding authorization processes and payer requirements.
- Build skills in operational analysis and workflow improvement to support future leadership opportunities within oncology services.
