Pattern Engineer I The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed, as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for the creation of new footwear pattern designs, while ensuring the manufacturability of the concept within the Danner factory and aiding in final commercialization of new product lines. Qualified candidates will address sustaining engineering issues relating to patterns, processes and components while consulting with Manufacturing Engineers on production line impact. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION (Other duties may be assigned.): Translates conceptual footwear design ideas into product prototypes Ability to build patterns from conceptual state, including creating of upper construction and knowledge of a variety of bottoming construction technologies. Continually reviews existing patterns and recommends manufacturability improvements. Responsible for sample creation and tracking through the factory setting. Creating/sourcing manufacturing support tools. Assist in creation of operator manuals and support documents. Aids in the creation of bill of materials for all new product introductions. Follows projects through the Commercialization Tech Gate process. Creates tooling for automated equipment. Perform project management of new styles from product prototypes to production. Provides production footwear pattern support. Validates new materials including textiles, adhesives, polymers, hardware and leathers. Other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design Engineering, Apparel Design or equivalent preferred. 4+ years direct footwear manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree. 4+ years additional work experience in the footwear industry. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Proficient in ProCam Dimensions and/or Caligola or equivalent CAD software. Experience with inspection of footwear materials, especially a background in leather. Experience with pattern making for footwear or apparel. Experience in creating manufacturing support tools. Experience with 3D design & 3D printing. Demonstrated ability to grade patterns. Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong coordination, oral and written communication skills are a must. Ability to build/maintain relationships and effectively partner with peers. Must be willing to conduct oneself in accordance with LFI's Core Values. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is done in a manufacturing/factory environment. This position is considered a fully onsite role.
