Job Overview Primoris Heavy Civil, based in Houston, TX, is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to lead high-profile heavy civil highway projects, including concrete slipform paving. The role requires willingness to travel to project sites and cities across the region. Job Description Review superintendents' performance and conduct formal evaluations. Make education and training recommendations for superintendents and field personnel. Promote the development of leadership skills for project managers and foremen. Oversee construction operations, including utilization of company crews and equipment. Ensure company tools and equipment are used responsibly and not lost or damaged. Assist the Division Manager with hiring, training, directing, reviewing, and terminating salaried staff. Monitor hiring, disciplining, and terminating field equipment operators and laborers. Work with the Division Manager to develop, communicate, and enforce personnel policies. Ensure company personnel adhere to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policies and meet Disadvantaged Business Enterprise commitments. Assist in developing and enforcing company safety policy and rules; ensure compliance. Require and monitor the folding of weekly safety meetings; ensure prompt completion of accident reports. Coordinate flow of quantity and information between the field and accounting departments to ensure timely payment. Coordinate field quality control. Maintain subcontractor relations and coordinate subcontractors. Maintain working relationships with owners and engineers. Establish long-term production goals and monitor subordinates' weekly production goals. Monitor equipment hours and utilization. Ensure compliance with all documentation procedures. Maintain working relationships with company estimators. Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager on highway, road, and bridge projects. 5+ years of experience working on TxDOT projects. Knowledge of concrete slip paving. Ability to implement innovative and effective management techniques. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on projects. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assistance recommended for heavier loads). Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces. Capable of climbing ladders, kneeling, crawling, or working at heights and in confined spaces. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management. Benefits Competitive compensation, paid weekly.
