Payroll & Benefits Manager (U.S. & Canada)We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead the accurate, compliant, and timely administration of payroll and employee benefits for approximately 100 employees across the United States and Canada. This role serves as the subject matter expert for payroll processing, benefits administration, and related compliance, while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver an excellent employee experience.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll ManagementOversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees, including salaried and hourly staffEnsure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local regulationsAdminister payroll taxes, filings, and remittances (e.g., IRS, CRA, and state/provincial agencies)Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and benefit deductionsManage year-end processes, including W-2s, T4s, and related reportingServe as the primary point of contact for payroll vendors and auditorsBenefits AdministrationAdminister employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiativesManage benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations for U.S. and Canadian employeesEnsure compliance with benefits-related regulations (e.g., ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA in the U.S.; applicable provincial regulations in Canada)Act as a liaison with benefits brokers and vendors, supporting renewals and plan evaluationsRespond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries with professionalism and confidentialityCompliance & ReportingMaintain compliance with employment laws and payroll/benefits regulations in both countriesMonitor legislative changes and recommend process or policy updates as neededPrepare and maintain payroll and benefits documentation, policies, and proceduresSupport internal and external audits related to payroll and benefitsSystems & Process ImprovementMaintain and optimize payroll and HRIS systemsIdentify opportunities to streamline payroll and benefits processes and improve efficiencyDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures and internal controlsCollaboration & SupportPartner with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate and aligned employee dataSupport onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefitsProvide reporting and analysis on payroll costs, benefits utilization, and complianceQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred5–7 years of progressive payroll and benefits experience, including U.S. and Canadian payrollPrior experience managing or supervising payroll staff preferredStrong knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and compliance requirementsExperience with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, SAP, Workday, or similar platformsAdvanced Excel skills and experience with HRIS integrationsExceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentialityStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAdditional InformationStandard work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.Hybrid work arrangement available after the initial training periodSalary range: $85,000–$90,000Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO and sick time, employee fitness program, and moreEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: • The California Fair Chance Act • Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance • Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers • San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
