To accommodate continued growth, Atlas is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team.

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for accurate processing of union payroll and associated reporting as well as assisting with accounts payable functions. This position will also support special projects and any other office or accounting related functions. Responsibilities for this role shall include:


  • Process and review weekly union payroll for accuracy including verification of timecard data.
  • Review payroll registers for accuracy prior to posting.
  • Maintain employee master records and process E-Verify and new hire reporting.
  • Administer and remit court-ordered wage garnishments.
  • Maintain compliance with Davis-Bacon wages and prepare certified payroll reports as well as obtain DOL certifications.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and remit union fringe benefit reports.
  • Calculate and remit union target fund reporting.
  • Maintain documentation to support union audits.
  • Update union wage and fringe benefit rates annually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Post equipment usage costs and job quantities to the appropriate projects and cost codes.
  • Maintaining effective and frequent communication with field personnel.
  • Calculate layoff checks.
  • Remit accurate INDOT OJT reporting and provide annual calculation of hours.
  • Post accounts payable
  • Other accounting or payroll items, as needed.


Minimum qualifications for the Payroll Administrator position include:

Candidates must have an Associates degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Minimum of two years of payroll experience, construction industry and/or union experience preferred.

Experience in account reconciliations and proficiency with payroll software

High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and ability to meet strict deadlines.

Ability to multitask and work independently.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Proficient in MS Office and ideally possess experience with COINS, HeavyJob, and Bluebeam.

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, etc.)
