Payroll Assistant Apply
The Payroll Assistant will work with staff and the payroll department to ensure accurate payroll processing. This position requires attention to detail and organizational skills. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days in our El Cerrito Office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a payroll assistant or payroll coordinator.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing principles and procedures, timekeeping, and wage and hour regulations.
- Previous experience working in non-profit preferred
- Prior experience working with HRIS/Payroll systems (with preference to Workday)
Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and payroll software is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Responsibilities:
- This position is hybrid: 3 days El Cerrito Office/2 days remote
- Review employee timecard reports throughout the time period to proactively address missed punches, meal breaks, no hours recorded or other red flags.
- Collaborate with the People & Culture team on leaves of absence, and associated benefit premiums repayment.
- Monitor mental health day usage and compliance.
- Act as quality assurance for timecards to ensure accurate payment and wage and hour compliance
- Support in compliance actions around Terminations and Manual Check payments
- Assist in scanning projects and keeping good record filing for both manual and E-copy Payroll items.
- Support in Payroll Mail Responsibilities and verifications, medical support orders, and/or garnishments order uploads.
