Payroll SpecialistAssumes responsibility for the computation of payroll hours, completion of payroll sheets and forwarding same to Payroll Department to meet bi-weekly payroll deadlines.Job ResponsibilityRecords and updates staff payroll sheets with scheduled time, work time, benefit time paid, and compensation or disability to meet bi-weekly payroll deadlines; enters information into electronic payroll system.Validates totals for all time entered for each employee, verifying all hours worked and benefit time requested; tracks and processes employee pay orders and vacation advance requests slips submitted; completes proper forms for advance vacation checks.Sorts and distributes paychecks on payday; investigates and resolves issues to be added to pay period or pay orders regarding pay hours, benefits, etc.Maintains log for staff sick days paid for family members; generates reports from payroll ledgers to be distributed to management.Makes recommendations to improve efficiency of payroll processing procedures (i.e. drafting new forms, updating existing forms, procedures, etc.).Answers telephones, refers or handles calls appropriately.Develops appropriate retention system for overtime records, sign-in sheets, time change requests, and all other payroll records.Maintains strict confidentiality in all payroll and hospital matters.Utilizes knowledge of related union contracts and Personnel Policy and Procedure Manuals in the performance of duties.Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.Job QualificationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.1-3 years of relevant experience, required.Additional Salary Detail The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
