POSITION: PAYROLL & HUMAN RESOURCE SPECIALIST
START DATE: April 22, 2024 CLASSIFICATION: Exempt; Full-Time (2080 hours per year) LOCATION: CW High School/Middle School Building
SALARY & BENEFITS: $44,000; District-offered health, dental, life, & long-term disability insurance; Wisconsin Retirement System contribution; paid time off; optional short term disability insurance; & paid holidays.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday; 7:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m., including non-student days & summers
DESCRIPTION: This position, under the direction of the Superintendent, prepares, records, and disburses of all wages, salaries, various payroll transactions, and liabilities, including distribution of all payroll payments.
Objectives of the position include but are not limited to ensuring that all payrolls and related reports are completed in a timely fashion, maintaining official payroll records, ensuring the districts payroll activities are compliant with all applicable regulations, ensuring compliance and proper administration of the districts employee benefit programs, and other varied functions
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Board or Hiring Committee will consider an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The Board of Education or Hiring Committee may request additional requirements or substitutions to the following qualifications Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field. Experience with payroll operation. Successful experience working in a team setting. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Minimum of five years of experience with payroll operation. Experience in payroll and benefits for a company with over 50 employees. Certified Payroll Professional certification. Knowledge of governmental accounting.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Point of contact for community, employees, and others who need assistance from the District Office.
- Maintain records and information confidentially as prescribed by policy and legal guidelines.
- Process and enter data for payroll preparation for administrative, professional, support, co-curricular, and summer school staff; Process substitute pay and verify accuracy.
- Maintain and update employee data related to employment folders, direct deposit information, withholding, taxes, rates, deductions, 403b, and life insurance.
- Prepare all tax forms relating to payroll.
- File required reports with all federal and state agencies regarding open enrollment, payroll & food service.
- Respond to verification of employment inquiries.
- Coordinate Board of Education elections, develop Board of Education meeting agendas, draft & post Board meeting notices, & process meeting minutes.
- Process food service applications and work with direct certification.
- Serve as the primary contact for Open Enrollment for the District.
- Responsible for other fiscal and human resources tasks, including but not limited to employee benefit setup and tracking, unemployment reports, creating and sending employment offers, absence and leave tracking, and other support tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
