Payroll Specialist (Contract)
Location: Remote (Must be local to the Centennial, CO area for occasional onsite visits)
Duration: Long-term contract through July 2027 (potential for extension or conversion)
Pay Range: $25–$35/hour (depending on experience)

- 40 hours per week Monday through Friday
- Occasional onsite requirement (every 4–6 weeks) in Centennial, CO
- Day 1 onsite onboarding
- Equipment provided (laptop, dual monitors, optional accessories)
About the Role
Lakeshore Talent is partnering with a large, reputable organization in the healthcare industry to hire a Payroll Specialist for a long-term contract opportunity.
This is a primarily remote role with occasional onsite visits, ideal for someone who enjoys investigating payroll issues, auditing data, and supporting employees directly rather than processing high-volume payroll cycles.
What You’ll Do
- Audit payroll data before and after bi-weekly payroll processing
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies (pay, taxes, deductions, benefits)
- Respond to employee inquiries via ticketing system with clear, professional communication
- Maintain and update employee payroll records (LOAs, PTO, accruals, adjustments, etc.)
- Support PTO tracking, accruals, payouts, and reconciliations
- Assist managers and employees with payroll-related documentation and questions
- Contribute to special projects and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with multi-state wage and hour regulations
What You Bring
Required:
- Experience with Lawson payroll system
- 1+ year of payroll or HR experience (2–5 years preferred)
- Strong customer service mindset—employees are your “clients”
- Excellent communication skills and responsiveness
- High attention to detail and accountability
Preferred:
- Healthcare or large-scale, multi-state payroll experience
- Familiarity with Kronos/UKG and/or ServiceNow
- Understanding of wage and hour/labor policies
- Associate’s degree or some college coursework
