We are looking for a per diem Peer Support Specialist to join our team in Sussex County, Delaware. The Peer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the recovery process as individuals attempt to navigate behavioral health systems and recovery resources. Peer Support Specialists educates and empowers individuals by assisting them in developing a strong, stable recovery support system. Some core job responsibilities include conducting support meetings, offer service linkage as specified on the care plan, and responding to residents' emergencies as needed. Ultimately, you will work directly with the residents to assist individuals with self-care and self-awareness, encouragement and support, teaching coping skills and the positive benefits of long-term recovery.

If you’re flexible with working evenings and weekends, that’s a big plus!

***A $1.00 shift differential is available for 2nd shift Saturday's and Sunday's***

***A $2.00 shift differential is available for any 3rd shift***

Please note this position is currently for per diem shifts at our Men's Residential Program in Harbeson, DE and our Women's Residential Program in Seaford, DE. A commitment to work a minimum of 1 shift per month is required.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other resources to aid the client
  • Monitor the resident's behavior, schedule, medication, and activities
  • Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals
  • Liaise with family members and medical professionals regularly
  • Provide culturally appropriate recovery education and support-
  • Refer and link clients to appropriate services, clinical and/or medical services as needed within the agency and in the community in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Collaborate with the resident care team to develop a plan that is individualized for the resident
  • Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the resident’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years proven work experience as a Peer Support Specialist or similar role in Behavior Health, Substance Use Disorder Treatment or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly compassionate and attentive to details
  • The ability to be on call for emergencies and work on weekends and public holidays
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Peer Support Specialist preferred
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver's license at the time of application and maintain it throughout the duration of employment.
