Associate: Operations & Manufacturing
We are seeking experienced manufacturing and supply chain professionals to join Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) team. The associate will lead and deliver large, complex client engagements, working closely with private equity leadership to identify, design, and implement creative business solutions for portfolio companies.

The Team
A&M’s PEPI practice serves middle‑market and large‑cap private equity firms, assisting them in improving operating results at their portfolio companies. Our professionals bring deep functional expertise and a structured, disciplined approach to cost improvements, transformations, mergers, acquisitions, and carve‑outs.
How You Will Contribute
Gain a comprehensive understanding of a target’s manufacturing and distribution operations—including organization design, production capacity, efficiency, quality, planning, warehousing, and team capability.
Evaluate the maintainability and operability of production facilities.
Review current and historical data to assess efficiency & capacity, including equipment conditions, maintenance logs, spare parts, and detailed production numbers.
Provide shop‑floor insights by engaging with employees and customers and reviewing all available data.
Identify potential cost improvement opportunities through lean improvements, outsourcing, or consolidation of facilities.
Develop transformation plans to drive proposed changes and identify key risks and mitigation strategies.
Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables and manage the team and day‑to‑day relationships to ensure exceptional performance.
Qualifications
2–5+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years specializing in manufacturing and/or distribution functions.
Deep functional expertise in at least one of the following: supply chain operations, manufacturing operations, SI&OP, footprint optimization, plant consolidation, product line transfer, manufacturing strategy, CapEx planning, Manufacturing 4.0/IIoT, lean, Six Sigma, TOC, or value engineering.
Excellent fact‑gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.
Experience designing and leading the execution of internally‑focused and externally‑focused change/communications strategy.
Previous strategy and change management experience.
Bachelor’s degree required.
