Annual Salary: BR,420 - BR,321 (Salary based on experience, If someone has no supervisory experience, prior Therapist experience will be considered for placement on the range.) ***incentive pay available***

THE GUIDANCE CENTER - Counseling Mental Health - 13101 Allen Rd Southgate MI - Phone Number - Yelp is responsible for all administrative and clinical functioning of the Children's Crisis Screening program. The program screens children for psychiatric hospitalization throughout Wayne County 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including weekends and holidays. Regular working hours for the Supervisor are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, additional hours may be necessary, depending upon the immediate needs of the program. In addition, the Supervisor must be available by phone 24 hours per day, including weekends and holidays, to provide supervision to on-call staff.


As a Children's Crisis Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following:


1. Provide standard and clinical supervision to staff members utilizing a variety of treatment methodologies.

2. Managing staff and department within span of control, including but not limited to: interviewing, selecting, and training of staff; setting and adjusting hours of work; directing work and assignments; appraising and evaluation of staff work performance; handling of staff complaints and grievances; disciplining employees; making recommendation with particular weight as to the termination of staff.

3. Review and organize all treatment records and reports pertaining to the treatment and the rendering of services to clients.

4. Supervise case consultations with staff.

5. Maintain daytime and after-hours schedules to ensure coverage and timeliness of service delivery.

6. Assess community needs, assign priorities, and direct and provide service when indicated.

7. Work in conjunction with inter-departmental groups to ensure smooth and consistent administration of the program.

8. Assist in the coordination of the Appeals process (Second Opinion) for consumers and guardians in the ED s with TGC On-Call Crisis Psychiatrist.

9. Work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with staff and leadership at partner agencies in the network, at Detroit-Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN), with the Michigan Department of Community Health as well as with hospitals and other treatment providers throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan.

10. Complete documentation, referrals, monthly/quarter audits and other required paperwork as required.

11. Responsible for participating in monthly Total Quality Management Committee meeting, actively implement the agency s quality improvement initiatives within their assigned areas, monitor the implementation and adherence to the established quality improvement initiatives, activities and policies.

12. Provide constant and consistent feedback to staff regarding performance.

13. Conduct regular staff meetings and keep records of such.

14. Provide day-to-day supervision of staff.

15. Assume responsibility for reports required by the agency or funding sources.

16. Participate in assessment of community needs and consult with community organizations as needed.

17. Act as liaison and participate in agency committees as needed or assigned.

18. Complete 25 hours of program and or position specific training on an annual basis.

19. Work collaboratively with Program Director and Finance to ensure funding requirements and budgetary guidelines meet appropriate timeframes.

20. Other duties as necessary or requested.

  • Master s Degree in social work, psychology or counseling with an LMSW, LLP or LPC licensure from the State of Michigan. - Required
  • At least three years of experience working with children and families in a mental health setting. - Required.
  • Experience working in a Community Mental Health setting. - Preferred
  • One year of experience in a supervisory capacity. - Preferred
  • Candidate must obtain the credential of Children s Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credentials within 120 days of hire.
  • Excellent communication, writing and public presentation skills are also required in order to interact with, as well as develop and maintain, collaboration relationships with the staff and leadership at all levels at other organizations, funders, and accrediting bodies.
  • Additional requirements include excellent clinical assessment, triage and treatment skills; the ability to handle crisis situations in a calm, professional manner; the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients; a consistently nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual children and their families.
  • Must have valid driver s license and favorable driving record.
  • Cannot accept candidates who are on student/work visas, and/or require sponsorship to work in the U.S. at this time.
