Position: Long Term Substitute Teacher
Location: Amistad Academy Elementary School, New Haven, CT
Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 4th Grade (K-4)
Setting: Urban

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long Term Substitute Teacher to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring continuity of instruction during parental leaves and other teacher absences throughout the school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to our school's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective instruction and maintain a positive learning environment for students in grades K-4.
- Implement lesson plans and ensure curriculum continuity during the primary teacher's absence.
- Develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student achievement and well-being.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or the ability to obtain one in Connecticut.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in an urban elementary school setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and a proven ability to engage students in learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine love for working with children and a commitment to their academic and personal growth.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary is dependent on years of experience in education.
