Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Infection Preventionist to lead and support infection prevention and control efforts across SEARHC facilities. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards, supports organizational training and education initiatives, and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Infection Prevention Program Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain SEARHC's Infection Prevention and Control Plan in alignment with CDC, OSHA, FDA, TJC, and APIC standards.

  • Write and update infection prevention policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Data & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and report infection control data and statistics.

  • Submit required data to regulatory agencies such as NHSN.

  • Provide surveillance support and reporting for all SEARHC locations.

Training & Education

  • Facilitate infection prevention training for employees, patients, families, and community members.

  • Conduct new hire and annual infection control orientation.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison and role model across the organization.

  • Co-chair the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.

  • Participate in related committees and cross-functional teams.

  • Travel to various SEARHC sites to provide education and assessments.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, etc.) required.

  • Master's degree (e.g., MPH, MSN) preferred.

Certifications

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 6 months of hire or upon eligibility.

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in infection control, acute care, data collection, or performance improvement.

  • Experience in long-term care IPC and knowledge of epidemiological/statistical analysis is a plus.

Required Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) CBIC

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) NAHQ

  • Clinical Competency Assessment SEARHC
