Garces, Grabler, & LeBrocq, P.C., an award-winning and established plaintiff law firm with twelve offices, seeks an experienced New York/New Jersey Licensed Personal Injury attorney with five more years of experience. The Personal Injury attorney will focus on a variety of Personal Injury cases not limited to auto, motorcycle, truck, or slip-and-fall accidents. We seek a candidate who will serve as an advocate and an ambassador to the applicants and claimants and will work positively and diligently for the client with the paralegals and legal assistants on the team. The attorney must be able to handle complex Personal Injury cases from intake to verdict or settlement and be extremely thorough. We are seeking a candidate looking to become an integral step in their career and willing to stand for the best interest of the clients and Firm. The ideal candidate is an experienced trial attorney who is compassionate and self-motivated.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with clients to learn about their legal needs and concerns and provide advice in NY and in NJ.
  • Develop strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively in NJ and in NY.
  • Review discovery documents and determine the best course of action for each client in each case.
  • Take, review, and administer full depositions and oral hearings of cases witnesses and experts.
  • Manage a team consisting of a Paralegal and Legal Assistant.
  • Prepare all documents required to file cases.
  • Draft Pleadings, motions, and answer to interrogatories.
  • Work closely with administrative teams to prepare a comprehensive brief on each case that goes to trial.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences, based on cased requirements.
  • Schedule and administer full depositions of cases, witnesses, and experts.
  • Review discovery documents and determine the best course of action for the client in each case.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Must have a Juris Doctorate or equivalent.
  • Must be licensed in NY and NJ.
  • Must have 5 years of plaintiffs personal injury experience.
  • Possess a strong academic record.
  • Proficiency in negotiating settlement with insurance carriers and resolving property damage claims.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to listen clearly and manage multiple caseloads up to 140 cases.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.
  • Exhibit organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate team player and collaborative attributes.
  • Demonstrate confidentiality.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PPT), Case Management systems suchas Smart Advocate., Document Management systems.
  • Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess tenacity, drive, and compassion.
  • Quality control works effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel to court.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English - preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 20-25 lbs.
  • Sit for prolonged periods of time 7-8 hours.
  • The position uses standard office equipment, but is not limited to computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Manual dexterity.
