Position: Personal Injury Case Manager/Paralegal

Are you an experienced and detail-oriented Personal Injury Case Manager/Paralegal ready to join our expanding team? This role is the perfect opportunity to work in an office with a close-knit and supportive environment where you can continue to grow your career. You'll be working in the office five days a week, with a 60-day assessment period to ensure a mutual fit.

In this role, you'll lead these responsibilities:

  • Client Intake: Assist with new client intake, including gathering information, evaluating case viability, and recording client details.
  • Case Management: Oversee and manage a caseload of 75-120 personal injury cases, ensuring seamless progress through the legal process.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary client contact, providing case updates and addressing inquiries.
  • Document Management: Organize and maintain case documents, such as medical records, police reports, and correspondence.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
  • Discovery Support: Assist in the discovery process by drafting interrogatories, document requests, and other legal documents.
  • Trial Preparation: Prepare trial materials, including notebooks, exhibits, and witness lists to support attorneys during trial.
  • Court Filings: Manage the filing of legal documents with courts, including pleadings, motions, and settlements.
  • Mediation and Negotiation: Participate in mediation and negotiation sessions to pursue favorable settlements for clients.
  • Depositions: Coordinate and attend depositions, acting as a liaison between clients, witnesses, and attorneys.
  • Expert Witness Coordination: Collaborate with expert witnesses, securing their involvement and managing schedules.
  • Court Calendar Management: Maintain and update court calendars, ensuring compliance with deadlines and court appearances.

The job tasks listed above are subject to change and may not reflect all tasks required. As the firm grows, certain tasks may be re-distributed in an effort to concentrate skills and grow your career. Any change in tasks will be discussed with you in advance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years in personal injury.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is a PLUS, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A paralegal certificate is a plus, but not required.
  • Litigation experience is essential.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 100 cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in claims adjusting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical claims.
  • Experience in negotiating medical expenses.
  • Proficiency in case management systems (we'll provide training on ours).
  • Familiarity with tech programs like PeachCourt, Tyler/Odyssey, File & Serve Xpress, and Pacer (preferred), as well as Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
  • Competency in writing and grammar.
