Elendil Resources LLC operates oil, helium, and gas wells across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, focusing on innovative energy solutions. The company specializes in exploration, production, and reservoir management to optimize helium and hydrocarbon production focused on Central Kansas.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Hays, KS, for a Petroleum Engineer. Remote will be considered and would require 25%-35% travel to Kansas.


Key responsibilities

  • Field & production optimization
  • Monitor well performance (rates, pressures, downtime) and identify uplift opportunities.
  • Diagnose production issues (artificial lift, paraffin/scale, water handling, mechanical integrity) and drive corrective actions.
  • Implement surveillance routines and recommend operating changes to improve LOE and reliability.
  • Reservoir & development support
  • Screen and recommend stimulation, recompletion, or conformance options as needed.
  • Workovers & well operations
  • Design and execute workover programs (tubing/casing repairs, pump changes, perforation additions, recompletions).
  • Write AFE scopes and cost estimates; manage vendors and field execution; capture lessons learned.
  • Participate in well planning, risk assessments, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Prepare post-job reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • HSE & compliance
  • Ensure all work follows company HSE standards and Kansas regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications

  • B.S. in Petroleum Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline with relevant O&G experience).
  • 2+ years of petroleum engineering experience (production/reservoir/operations) with Kansas exposure preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze production data and translate insights into field actions.
  • Working knowledge of common oilfield operations and vendor management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in the field environment; valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Kansas basins/plays and carbonate reservoirs.
  • Workover design/execution and hands-on field operations experience.
  • Familiarity with artificial lift optimization (rod pump/ESP/plunger lift as applicable), stimulation, and well integrity.

Typical tools/skills 

  • Excel/data analytics; reporting dashboards.
  • Wellbore schematics, failure analysis, cost tracking, AFE preparation.

Work environment

  • Mix of office and field time in Kansas with periodic travel to well sites and vendor locations
