All employees must regard themselves as an ‘owner’ of Genesis and keep our patients at the center of everything we do *- always.*## Position Details:Work Shift:Day Shift (United States of America)Scheduled Weekly Hours:20Department:Pharmacy Research## Overview of Position:Assists in the coordination and execution of drug research protocols conducted at Genesis HealthCare System.ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Coordinates with the Principal Investigator (PI) and Research Specialist to help ensure that research and related activities follow federal regulations and Genesis policies and procedures. 2. Coordinates and facilitates monitoring and auditing visits. 3. Present and ensure IRB (Institutional Review Board) approves all study protocols as applicable. 4. Assures compliance with standard protocols regarding Human Research Participants. Report any protocol deviations or Serious Adverse Events to the IRB, the Research Specialist, and Corporate Integrity. 5. Prepares and maintains documents for all research regulatory binders and is prepared for any FDA or regulatory audit or survey preparedness purposes. 6. Screen potential study participants for eligibility using protocol-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. 7. Obtain signed consent forms from all study participants and place the patient in active research status in EMR. 8. Monitors all study participants for adverse events, abnormal lab values, and relative clinical presentations. 9. Completes all education for a study and completes all electronic database and paper case forms by accurately transcribing data from source documents. 10. Assist in ordering supplies to minimize stock outages and maintain appropriate inventory levels. 11. Initiates and closes out study procedures. 12. Develop and maintain a positive rapport with all healthcare providers involved in research. 13. Assists PI in completing study feasibility assessments as requested. 14. Work with PI to manage the day-to-day activities of the study, including problem-solving, communication, and protocol management. 15. Review diagnostic data and discuss with PI. When protocol advises, place orders in EPIC for research. 16. Helps evaluate processes and procedures that utilize resources to provide cost-effective care within the budget. 17. Protects patients' rights and educates the patient and family by answering questions and explaining risk/ benefit clearly. 18. Promotes the ethical conduct of research by reporting reasonable faith suspicions of misconduct in research as defined within Genesis Research policies and procedures. 19. Attends continuing education programs to maintain licensure and certification and stay current with relevant research issues and trends. 20. Maintains clinical competency in nursing to provide patient care adequately and provide a continuum between the study and standard of care. 21. Using nursing skills to provide primary patient care and perform nursing functions required for adherence to study protocols. 22. Obtain certification in Good Clinical Practice and IATA while performing studies.QUALIFICATIONS 1. Registered Nurse (R.N.) and licensed in Ohio. 2. Minimum of two (2) years experience in health care with experience in direct patient care. 3. Must have basic knowledge and understanding of adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures. 4. Interact positively with patients and other team members by constructively expressing opinions and actively participating in decision-making teams. 5.
