Job Description
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An experienced Pharmacy Technician is needed for a temp-to-hire opportunity within a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment where each patient typically manages 8-15 medications daily, requiring strong communication skills, patience, and a solid understanding of commonly prescribed medications.
Location: Westerville, OH
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (No weekends)
Contract Duration: 13-week assignment with potential to convert to permanent based on performance
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, dispense, and manage medications for patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients who often have low health literacy and require additional support
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care
- Utilize pharmacy software (Pioneer Rx preferred; training available) to manage prescriptions and patient information
- Manage medication inventory and assist with specialty pharmacy procedures
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Previous retail pharmacy technician experience, specialty pharmacy background highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately and effectively with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patient populations
- Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 retail drugs commonly prescribed
- Exceptional communication skills, especially in explaining complex medication regimens to patients with chronic diseases
- Resume must explicitly highlight experience working with chronic illness patients
