All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate. KANA’s standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, typically consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (total of 8.5 hours on site per day). Under general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and in accordance with standard departmental procedures, stock, prepare, and distribute medications for patient use. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supports the organization’s mission and goals, quality standards, and patient-centered medical home philosophy. Embraces KANA’s culture of serving the whole person through our provision of services. Incorporates KANA’s core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, and Pride in all activities and decisions. Upholds KANA’s Code of Ethics by conducting professional activities with honesty, integrity, respect, fairness, and good faith in a manner that reflects positively upon the organization. Performs duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies, and state and federal law. Prepares, dispenses, and distributes medications under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Reads and interprets village clinic orders, fills orders, and prepares orders for shipment. Prepares medications for village patients for shipment via mail or airline. Checks and removes outdated medications on a routine basis to ensure that no outdated medications are in stock. Checks medication supply, assists with medication ordering and organization in pharmacy, and restocks medications maintained in clinic areas outside the pharmacy. Provides drug information to the patient or consumer. Demonstrates absolute accuracy and precision in both the technical and clerical aspects of the job to ensure patient health and safety. Provides quality customer service to beneficiaries, patients, healthcare providers, and clinic staff. Performs general clerical duties related to patient registration and billing for pharmacy services. Investigates denied pharmacy claims and correct errors for resubmission. Assists in keeping pharmacy in a professional, sanitary, and secure manner. Attends and participates in pharmacy meetings to exchange ideas in order to achieve goals of the department. Establishes professional working relationship with coworkers. Acquires continuing education hours as required professionally to maintain up-to-date skill levels, licensure, and certifications. Ensures total and uncompromising standards of patient confidentiality in the establishment and maintenance of all patient medication records, allowing no unauthorized person access to these records in accordance with KANA policy. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
