Pharmacy TechnicianThe Pharmacy Technician receives and fills prescription requests for patients under the supervision of a pharmacist and maintains patient profiles.Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. PTCB National Certification Education required. Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred. Must be professional, self-motivated and have strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, customer service and computer skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings and weekends. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees Ability to type and operate a Microsoft Windows based computer. Must complete and maintain all recertification requirements for continued licensure and/or certification, and retain updated copies as applicable. Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills. Certification as an Interpreter is preferred and ability to provide bilingual patient care is a plus.Properly process pseudoephedrine sales. Check for outdated medications and notify the pharmacist of low inventories. Check refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Unpack and organize incoming merchandise, including sorting items that require special handling. Package and label products under the supervision of the pharmacist and restocking shelves. Maintain and clean equipment, work areas, and shelves. Retrieve, pour, count, label, and reconstitute prescription medications. Receive prescriptions to be filled and ensuring that the Pharmacist has the data necessary to fill the orders. Notify the pharmacist of any problems or malfunctions. Handle customer problems/concerns in a calm manner and refer them to the pharmacist as necessary. Greet and assist customers and helping them to locate over-the-counter products as needed. Provide completed orders to customers. Redirect customer calls to the appropriate personnel when necessary. Communicate with physicians, patients, and third-parties, such as insurance companies. Access, input, and retrieve information through the pharmacy's computer network to maintain accurate records and patient/client profiles. Process and prepare third-party and Medicare DME insurance claims. Prepare reports related to sales, usage, patient records, and inventory. Maintain records related to inventories, receipts, purchases, and deliveries. Collect co-payments. Comply with established procedures, rules, and regulations. Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Chief Pharmacy Officer or the Pharmacist in Charge. If qualified, perform interpretation/translation services for ESRHS centers. If qualified, assist patients with signing up for the Migrant Clinician Network.
