Description
Client is a non-profit, mission-driven 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1997. We collaborate with non-profit post-acute and community-based organizations specializing in care for older adults and adults with disabilities. These include long-term care, housing, hospice, home care, assisted living, and adult-day health. Client directly provides a wide range of health and wellness services, such as rehabilitation (PT/OT/SLP), mobile dental, audiology, podiatry, psychiatry, brain health, and wellness services. Our mission is to keep individuals doing the things they love, independently, in their own homes.
This part-time, float position (approx. 20 hours per week) will provide care at our Northern and Central RI Region's inpatient and outpatient facilities. Occasional coverage outside of this area may be requested. Weekend differential and off-set schedules available.
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for delivering and supporting the therapeutic programs (within the parameters of training and expertise) designed and established by the Physical Therapist.
Essential Functions

Collaborate with the Physical Therapist and multi-disciplinary team to implement treatment plans.

Monitor patient progress and operate therapeutic equipment safely.

Document treatments, recording patient status, responses, changes, and educational activities.

Conduct physical and psychological assessments of clients and follow prescribed treatment plans.

Assess client home environments and recommend necessary modifications.

Provide guidance on assistive devices and apply therapy according to patient diagnosis and procedures.

Develop physical rehabilitation programs to help clients regain skills and mobility.

Educate caregivers and family members on patient care and recovery.

Maintain knowledge of certification requirements and compliance with federal, state, and local standards.

Education/Experience Required

Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in Rhode Island.

Interest in working with individuals of all abilities, including the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) population.

Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
-
Current (or willingness to obtain) BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
