Job SummaryArtesia General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team, primarily in an outpatient setting with occasional inpatient support. This role involves delivering physical therapy services based on a physician's referral and a physical therapist's plan of care, in accordance with New Mexico state laws and the PTA's qualifications. Responsibilities include assisting with treatments to improve functional mobility, motor skills, muscle strength, sensation, wound care, ambulation, balance, and addressing social and environmental factors for a diverse patient population.
The Physical Therapy Assistant will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, participate in patient and family education, and maintain clear documentation. Additionally, the PTA will engage in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing educational opportunities to further their professional development.
Essential Functions- Deliver skilled treatments for functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, and more.
- Adhere to a well-structured plan of care with measurable functional goals, respecting the patient's psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Maintain timely, compliant documentation following APTA guidelines and ensure accurate billing.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers to facilitate independence upon discharge.
- Occasional weekend shifts as required.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to manage patient scheduling and provide care independently.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Experience: Over one year of experience preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Licensure/Certification: Must hold or be eligible for licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board. BLS certification is required prior to employment.
