Ask about the Sign On BONUS! Job Responsibilities The Utility division installs pipes for storm for sanitary sewer, storm drains, and water mains. The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and installing the various underground pipes. Check grade. Set up laser for pipe alignment. Cut pipes to required lengths. Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers. Lay out pipe routes, follow specifications or blueprints, and coordinate layouts with a supervisor. Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing. Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue. Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices. Cover pipes with earth or other materials. Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools. Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age. A MINIMUM of 3+ years of experience is required. GED or high school diploma preferred.
