Piping Designer Mechanical Engineer Apply
Highlights:
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with Piping Design expertise at our New, clean salt-to-bleach plant. All the same challenges exist that exist in the other plants with regards to high rusting from the salt.
Once this plant in Palmetto, FL is up and running, this person will travel to 7 other sites regionally.
Money is flexible and estimated at $60k/year.
Reports to the VP of Engineering Operations.

The primary role of this position is to design efficient and cost-effective equipment, industrial piping, piping isometrics, 2D and 3D design, and process layouts and systems. The Mechanical Designer Engineer will provide support for multiple projects and will collaborate closely with others on the engineering team. Candidate should have a working experience with P&ID development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer and thermodynamic calculations as well as experience in design development for chemical processing facilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Use Vector-works or Autodesk CAD software to perform moderate to complex design tasks, equipment/process layout, site layout, pipe routing, pipe rack layout, isometrics, 3-D Modeling, and standard detail development
- Create assembly and construction drawings with information sourced from PFDs, P&IDs, engineering calculations, vendor information, and ASME & ANSI specifications
- Perform solid modeling of equipment, plant assemblies, and piping systems to include vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and other equipment
- Provide technical support, clarification, and interpretation of task, code, and standards requirements for all piping design and drafting activities
- Create detailed design and material purchases documents
- Provide technical support during construction and startup of the project to ensure correct installation
- Work independently and within a team, with a minimum level of supervision.
- Monitor progress on project and provide input into areas of concern and direction or redirection to enhance achievement of project schedules, productivity goals, budgets, and quality
- Coordinate project schedules and needs with team members and project managers
- Upgrade ANT I & ANT II
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient with Vector-works and/or Auto-Desk CAD software
- Proficient with MS Office Software
- Knowledge of specifying / designing process vessels, FRP dual laminate tanks, fiberglass tanks, heat exchangers, structural steel, and process piping
- Experience working with and interpreting process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Strong aptitude for learning and problem-solving skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Vector-works Professional or equivalent certification
- Understanding of piping design related codes, standards, and specifications
- Working knowledge in process piping design in chemical processing or similar industrial markets sufficient to understand plant specific equipment (i.e., pumps, valves, reactors, columns, tanks, pipe supports, thermoplastics etc.)
- Professional registration is a plus but not required (obtain registration within first year of employment – if not acquired upon hire)
- Engineering Degree (BS Mechanical Engineering) a plus
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of Five (5) years of experience as a Mechanical engineer
- Associate Engineering Technology degree and/or Computer Drafting and Design degree
- Experience with 3D modeling of industrial equipment and systems
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally to offices, vendor sites, project sites
- Extensive travel may be required (90% of the year) once the plant breaks ground at construction site
- Valid Passport
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
