This role owns production accuracy, floor verification, cross-department coordination, and recovery execution to ensure customer commitments are met in a complex, engineered-to-order, 24/7 manufacturing environment.The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, exceptional organizational discipline, and the leadership presence to hold teams accountable while maintaining a collaborative, solutions-driven culture.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Schedule ControlDevelop, maintain, and execute detailed production plans aligned with the facility Master Production Schedule (MPS).Translate strategic production targets into executable daily, weekly, and monthly schedules across all departments.Ensure production plans are realistic, capacity-balanced, and fully integrated with materials, labor, and equipment availability.Continuously evaluate and adjust schedules based on real-time plant conditions and demand changes.Accuracy, Auditing & VerificationAudit production schedules, work orders, and ERP/system data daily to ensure accuracy and completeness.Verify production status through direct on-site floor walks and physical confirmation of work-in-process.Reconcile discrepancies between system data and actual shop floor conditions.Maintain disciplined documentation and accurate records of production status, revisions, and historical changes.Monitoring, Delay Detection & RecoveryClosely monitor production progress to identify delays, constraints, or deviations from plan.Proactively flag schedule risks and anomalies before they impact customer commitments.Demand, document, and track formal recovery plans for missed or at-risk milestones.Follow up relentlessly on corrective actions until recovery is complete and performance is stabilized.Systems, Tools & ReportingUtilize ERP and production scheduling systems as the system of record for all planning activities.Develop and maintain supplemental Excel-based or visual tracking tools to enhance transparency and follow-through.Produce clear, concise dashboards and reports for daily, weekly, and monthly production reviews.Ensure all planning data is organized, traceable, and audit-ready at all times.Leadership & CommunicationLead daily production and coordination meetings with operations, production control, maintenance, materials, and support teams.Communicate priorities, risks, and recovery strategies clearly to plant and executive leadership.Hold teams accountable for commitments while fostering a collaborative, problem-solving environment.Serve as the central coordination point between Production, Materials, Engineering, Quality, and Management.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).5+ years of production planning, scheduling, or production control experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.Demonstrated experience supporting 24/7 operations with shifting priorities.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, analysis, and reporting.Strong documentation discipline, record-keeping accuracy, and audit orientation.Proven ability to rapidly identify issues and drive corrective actions through completion.Key Skills & AttributesExceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.Fast learner with the ability to quickly understand complex, multi-stage manufacturing flows.Highly organized with strong time-management and prioritization skills.Comfortable working extensively on the plant floor to validate information firsthand.Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving capability.Confident communicator capable of leading daily production meetings and influencing cross-functional teams.Results-driven mindset with a low tolerance for missed commitments and ambiguity.Working ConditionsOn-site role requiring frequent walking throughout the manufacturing facility.Regular exposure to industrial environments including equipment, noise, and active production areas.Availability to support off-shift or weekend issues as required by a 24/7 operation.Why Virginia Transformer?Join one of North America’s fastest-growing manufacturers of critical power infrastructure, supporting utilities, data centers, renewables, and industrial markets worldwide.
