Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager is responsible for leading the daily execution of manufacturing operations and driving operational performance at the Elkhart, Indiana facility in a labor-intensive molding, paint, and assembly environment. This role serves as the primary operational leader responsible for supervising daily production activity, managing workflow, coordinating supervisors and teams, and ensuring production schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations are consistently met.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Drive plant performance through strong daily operational leadership, disciplined production execution, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead daily manufacturing operations within a two-shift production environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
  • Supervise production teams through direct leadership of supervisors and team leaders.
  • Maintain a consistent leadership presence on the production floor, spending the majority of each day directly engaged with manufacturing operations, supervisors, and team members.
  • Observe production processes firsthand, identify bottlenecks, coach supervisors in real time, and implement practical solutions that improve production flow.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed effectively to support customer delivery commitments.
  • Establish clear daily production priorities and communicate operational expectations to supervisors and team leaders. Ensure structured and effective shift handoffs that communicate production status, operational issues, staffing concerns, and safety matters
  • Drive a culture of Lean manufacturing and operational excellence across the facility by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and optimize labor utilization. Lead improvement initiatives using tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, SMED, and poka-yoke.
  • Lead and develop supervisors, team leaders, and production employees to build a high-performing workforce. Establish clear expectations and accountability for operational performance.


REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience operating in a multi-shift operating environment. Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement background with a demonstrated history of implementing leading lean manufacturing or operational excellence initiatives. People centric, able to lead and develop supervisor, team leaders, and production employees to build a high-performing workforce. Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, accountability and CI.
