PLANT MANAGER

Flemington, NJ | Full-Time | Direct Placement

About the Company

Our client is a 30-year-old recycling company specializing in the processing of medical, sheeting, and plastic waste materials, transforming them into reusable plastic pellets utilized across a variety of industries. With multiple facilities across the U.S., this mission-driven, family-owned business is committed to environmental sustainability and operational excellence.

This position will be based at the Flemington, NJ facility — a 19-acre site with a team of approximately 30 employees.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to oversee the full operations based in Flemington, NJ facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for safety, production, maintenance, and continuous improvement across 12 active production lines. The Plant Manager will report directly to the Director and play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, building processes and procedures, and positioning the plant for future growth — including the potential launch of a second shift.

.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee all day-to-day plant operations including production, maintenance, warehouse, and safety
  • Lead, develop, and manage production teams and supervisors to ensure peak operational efficiency
  • Manage and monitor 12 active production lines, ensuring quality output, uptime, and schedule adherence
  • Drive safety culture and enforce compliance with all safety standards, regulations, and protocols
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve SOPs, processes, and operational procedures
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics, report findings and recommendations to the Director
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute the introduction of a second production shift
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks to maximize throughput and reduce downtime
  • Oversee equipment maintenance programs to ensure reliability and minimize disruptions
  • Partner with the Director on strategic planning, staffing decisions, and capital investments
  • Qualifications

    • 5+ years of plant or operations management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
    • Proven ability to lead and develop teams across production, maintenance, and warehouse functions
    • Strong background in safety management and regulatory compliance
    • Demonstrated experience with metric tracking, KPI reporting, and data-driven decision making
    • Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen certification/experience strongly preferred — ability to bring structured process improvement methodologies to the operation
    • Experience developing and implementing SOPs and operational procedures
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work hands-on in a plant environment and engage directly with production teams
    • Experience in the plastics or recycling industry is a plus but not required

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Base salary starting at $125,000, with flexibility in either direction based on candidate profile and experience
    • Holiday bonuses
    • Flexible and negotiable benefits package
    • Significant long-term growth opportunity — potential to expand into a multi-site operations leadership role

    Work Schedule

    • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM
    • Saturday availability required on occasion based on operational needs
    • Overtime may be required during peak production periods
