PLUMBER SUPERVISOR II

$19.57 - $25.89 Hourly

Schedule: 6:30am - 2:30pm with Saturday/Sunday off


The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections, Division of Administration has a full-time vacancy for a Plumbing Supervisor II.

Summary:

Supervises inmate workers and performs skilled plumbing, HVAC and sprinkler system installation/service/repair in a large facility. Knowledge of plumbing codes. Works in close and immediate contact with inmate workers on a daily basis, having responsibility for security.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent and a standard apprenticeship as a plumber.


Experience: Three years' experience as a journeyman plumber, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.


License/Certification: Licensure as a Master Plumber by the Plumbers' Licensing Board.


Special Requirements: Successful completion of the Corrections Academy and continuing Certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority.


Responsibilities:

Provides supervision, security and training to staff and inmate workers for installation/service/repair of fire sprinkler system, HVAC and plumbing projects.


Supervises skilled inmate plumbers while providing security. Plans, assigns, observes, reviews work and trains inmate workers in the use of specialized equipment.


Participates in interviewing process to obtain the most qualified candidate.


Maintains material inventory and tool inventory for inmate workers. For security purposes, tools used by inmate workers are inventoried on a daily basis.


Designs and prepares cost estimates for sprinkler, HVAC and plumbing projects for repairs, maintenance or new construction.


Inspects, tests and repairs sprinkler protection equipment which includes sprinkler inspection both wet and dry, stand pipe hose station, deluge valve systems per NFPA 25.


Maintains records and prepares reports for the fire sprinkler system, HVAC temperatures, water temperatures and generator testing.


Completes yearly evaluations of subordinates as required.


Possess the knowledge/ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings for the purpose of installation, service and repair of plumbing, heating and sprinkler systems.
