About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Plumbing/Mechanical Estimator to support commercial construction projects across the Metro Dallas region. This role is ideal for an estimator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is motivated to contribute accurate, competitive, and well-coordinated estimates that support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform conceptual and detailed estimating for plumbing and mechanical scopes, including interiors and building systems.
Review project scope, drawings, and specifications to quantify materials and develop accurate assemblies.
Utilize on-screen takeoff and estimating software to prepare cost estimates.
Prepare proposal letters, qualifications, and clarification documents.
Read and interpret technical documents such as geotechnical reports, due care plans, and specifications.
Manage and coordinate supplier and subcontractor bid invitations.
Follow up with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain complete and competitive pricing.
Review contract scopes and associated cost breakdowns.
Assist with subcontractor selection and buyout processes.
Work closely with bid teams to develop accurate, timely, and competitive proposals.
Ensure all bid submissions are complete, compliant, and submitted on time, including schedules, logistics, and pricing breakdowns.
Provide technical support to Project Managers during contract negotiations, change orders, and project transitions.
Ensure a smooth handoff of estimates, drawings, and bid documentation to the project management team and assist with kickoff meetings.
Organize and perform detailed quantity take-offs.
Proactively offer value-engineering and creative cost solutions to support project success.
Complete required training and maintain knowledge of estimating best practices and tools.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related role
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using PlanSwift, WinEst, or similar estimating software
Basic understanding of accounting and project management principles
Strong analytical skills with an understanding of estimation metrics and data analysis
Additional Skills & Competencies:
Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate and support shared goals
Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management
Solid knowledge of construction materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
Ability to develop accurate estimates with limited initial project information
Thorough understanding of estimating documents with the ability to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis
Familiarity with construction project management software
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
