Essential Function:Receives incoming telephone calls, persons who walk-in and police radio communication. Screens, directs and dispatches and documents communications.QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalentSkills:Ability to use computer efficiently; clear speaking voice and ability to interact with people; ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; ability to write and type at a professional level in regards to English grammar and spelling; remain calm in high-stressed situations; communicate effectively with the general public, co-workers, and emergency service agencies both verbally and in writing; ability to work in a team environment and be able to maintain confidentialityResponsibilities1.Answer incoming emergency and routine assistance calls for the Police Department.2.Independently assess need and urgency of requests and situations and dispatch emergency response personnel including law enforcement personnel and mutual aide personnel to incident/accident scenes.3. Receive and accurately relay/transcribe information, messages and requests for the Communications Center.4. Enter data and information into Triton College Police Department and State computer databases.5. Operate radio and telecommunication systems including UHF & VHF mobile and portable radios, fax machines, and telephones.6. Maintain knowledge of current communication policies and procedures and state, national and local dispatch standards.7. Participate in on-going training.8. Answer telephone requests for information, performs emergency warning notifications, perform clerical and general office functions, and provide court testimony as required.9. Monitor burglar and fire alarms, and notify appropriate person/agency as required, operates LEADS system: Enters stolen vehicles/items, missing persons and other information, maintains logs, record and file as required.10. Operate closed circuit television systems and numerous interior and exterior controllable cameras throughout campus.11. Other duties as assigned.
