Policy Development Specialist Tryfacta is seeking a Policy Development Specialist for our client in Albany, NY, 12203. This is a temporary contract assignment. If you meet the qualifications listed below and are interested, please apply now! Position Title: Policy Development Specialist Location: Albany, NY, 12203 Duration: 1 year Where the work will be performed: Remote Location of Resource: Remote - NE region preferred Is travel required for this position: no Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Execute comprehensive policy audits and gap analyses to ensure alignment with regulatory standards. Establish a policy inventory and design strategic prioritization matrix to streamline ongoing updates and revisions. Architect and deploy an electronic policy review process to modernize workflows and improve efficiency. Construct policy framework that is consistent, compliant, user-friendly and fit-for-purpose. Design and embed long-term governance systems to ensure all policies, frameworks, and workflows remain sustainable, scalable, and manageable over time. Train, educate, and align employees at all organizational levels on company policies. Other duties as assigned that contribute to the key outcomes of the People Governance and Leadership Development team. To be considered for this position, you should have: Required Skills: At least 5 years' experience in the following areas is ideal: Job Knowledge and Functional Competencies: Regulatory knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws (including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO regulations) and compliance infrastructure. Risk Mitigation: The ability to identify and remedy potential liabilities or gaps within policies and procedures. Policy creation and governance: Proven ability to build policy framework. Technical Writing: Expertise in drafting language the mitigates enterprise risk while maintaining accessible, culturally aligned messaging. Analytical and Audit Competencies: Gap Analysis and Risk Auditing: Experience conducting comprehensive audits on policies, procedures, and handbooks to identify regulatory non-compliance, operational contradictions, and operational inefficiencies. Workflow Synthesis: The ability to audit current operational practices and workflows and translate them into formalized, fit-for-purpose Standard Operating Procedures. Execution and Change Management: Stakeholder alignment: competency in partnership with legal counsel and leadership to vet policy changes and secure buy in. Change Enablement and implementation: Understanding of how to roll out updated handbooks and policies organization-wide. The ability to effectively train the workforce on existing policies and policy changes at the executive leadership, management, and staff levels. General Guidance for Expected Years of Experience: 3-6 years Technical & Professional Skills & Knowledge: Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area. Develops/formulates Deployment issues, problems and needs in at least one technical area. Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual level of technical skills and knowledge in at least one program area. Has basic understanding of State energy/environmental economic development issues. Creativity in Project & Program Development: Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction. Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative. Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative. Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area. Organization Skills & Productivity: Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner. Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of ongoing projects with no supervision. Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities. Effectively discharges general technical and project management assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organization's goals. Leadership / Interpersonal Relations / Judgement: Has demonstrated ability to effectively head working groups or program teams. Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns. Has full confidence of peers and superiors. People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others. Communication Skills & External Relations: Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, recognize and focus on issues, are both comprehensive and concise and require editing only in most sensitive and complex areas. Is able to negotiate effectively with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other outside contacts. Has demonstrated ability to prepare and present papers at professional meetings, seminars and conferences.
