Clemson University: College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences: Forestry and Environmental Conservation Location: 288 LEEHOTSKY HALL Open Date: Feb 04, 2026 Deadline: Feb 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description A vacancy for a postdoctoral research associate (PRA) is available at the Clemson University Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation. The incoming PRA will develop a new model or utilize existing partial equilibrium market-clearing models to determine the role of conservation policies and programs, closure of wood-consuming mills, and emerging markets for sustainable bioenergy products (e.g., sustainable aviation fuel, masstimber, methanol, biochar, etc.) on roundwood prices (and related land use changes) in the Southern United States. The incoming PRA is expected to complete research within a year from the start date (spring/summer 2026), although an extension of the appointment is possible based on performance and resource availability. Place of Work: Clemson University is a Carnegie R1 research institution dedicated to "High Seminary of Learning." It is a Land Grant University of the State of South Carolina. The main campus is located in Clemson, SC. The University is situated directly on Lake Hartwell and is home to the 17,500-acre Clemson Experimental Forest. The City of Clemson is a great place to enjoy hiking, kayaking, or mountain biking, as it is located in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Beyond the campus gates, the City of Clemson offers a charming downtown, while the nearby hubs of Greenville, SC, and Asheville, NC, are just a short drive away, providing easy access to metropolitan amenities and the arts. Salary and Benefits This position offers a salary of $65,000/year, along with comprehensive health and retirement benefits.
