Position description
Postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratory of Professor Julian E. Stelzer, PhD, in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. We seek talented and motivated applicants with expertise in physiology, biophysics, bioengineering, biochemistry, virology, metabolism, or other related fields. Our laboratory investigates molecular and in vivo mechanisms of inherited and acquired heart disease using a broad array of integrative techniques. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects aimed at identified novel therapeutic targets in the cardiac sarcomere. This role requires a background in animal models, molecular biology, and cardiac physiology.
Position requirements
- PhD degree in physiology, biology, medicine, bioengineering, or related field
- Experience with in vivo procedures in rodents
- Proficiency in basic molecular techniques
- Good understanding of cardiac physiology, genetics, and pharmacology
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Excellent problem solve skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively with a team
- Strong track record of research accomplishments, as evidenced by publications, presentations at scientific conferences, and grants
Preferred skills
Experience with in vivo characterization of cardiac physiology (ultrasound echocardiography, pressure-volume catheterization, telemetry, cardiac survival surgeries, gene and drug delivery)
Experience working with AAVs
