Job summary:

Prestage Farms is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Turkey Service Technician to join our team in Cassatt, SC. The service technician will be assigned approximately 20 turkey farms that are contract growers for Prestage Farms of SC. The Technician will be responsible for monitoring bird health, maintaining poultry house environment and providing guidance to growers. Duties will also include communication of information between the contract farm and the Production Manager/Office staff. The role reports to the Live Production Manager and primarily works a Monday - Friday, day-shift schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine visits to assigned contract grow out farms to monitor flock health and grower management
  • Prepare and submit weekly service reports on flock health, housing conditions and overall farm management
  • Deliver medications/supplies to contract grow out farms
  • Collect required surveillance samples from flocks
  • Follow required company biosecurity policy and practices
  • Identify and address issues with poultry house equipment, including ventilation systems, feeders and drinkers
  • Share needs of contract farms with Production Manager/Office
  • Communicate identified health issues of flocks to company Veterinarian.
  • Attend weekly production meetings
  • Follow company rules and expectations for assigned company vehicle
  • Perform other duties as assigned by production manager

Requirements

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Agricultural, poultry/animal science, or related degree or equivalent experience

 Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and handle multiple farm sites
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills for positive relations w/ various growers & leaders.
  • Willingness to work with service technician team to achieve common goal of safely and humanely

raising turkeys for food processing

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and work in varying environmental conditions
  • Valid driver’s license
