Job Description
Power System Engineer:
The Select Group is looking for a Power System Engineer for one of their top Telecommunication clients. This is going to be a long-term contract, located in Denver, CO. This role involves researching, architecting, and supporting innovative powering solutions for the hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network and consumer premise equipment (CPE). You will help develop opportunities related to energy efficiency, renewable power, and network reliability while working with cross-functional teams to implement demand response and virtual power plant applications.
Power System Engineer Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in power systems
- Power systems analysis, engineering, and architecture experience
- Familiarity with dispatch and virtual power plants (VPPs)
- Knowledge of electrical power transmission and modern distribution grids
- Experience with demand response, dispatchable power, and virtual power plants
- Familiarity with a quasi square wave, and switched-mode power supplies
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Nice to Have Skills:
- HFC powering expertise
- Familiarity with renewable power generation
- Expertise in renewable power generation, including solar, energy storage technologies, and microgrids
- Familiarity with HFC network architecture
- Software automation skills, including remote management with SNMP
- Scripting/software development experience
- Experience with tools like PowerPoint, Visio, or similar for architecture and design visualization
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal communication skills
Power System Engineer Responsibilities:
- Analyze, engineer, and architect power systems and solutions
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to implement energy-efficient opportunities
- Lead development projects related to energy storage, renewable energy, and demand response applications
- Design and document architectures and solutions to improve energy utilization and network reliability
- Automate configurations and integrate solutions with the Nexus controller
- Serve as a key resource for energy-related service opportunities, including virtual power plants
- Testing out innovative, emerging technologies in the power space
