STEM Preschool is now seeking candidates for the position of Lead and Assistant Teachers in Potomac, Maryland
Come join our growing team of educators who provide a fun, engaging, and STEM-focused learning experience for children from the ages of infants to 5. Ideal candidates are creative and patient individuals who have an interest in early childhood education.
Assistant Teacher specific responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Lead Teacher in planning of weekly themes, lesson plans, and daily activities.
- Observing, recording, and assessing each child’s individual growth and development.
- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children at all times.
- Actively engaging in daily activities and routines with children.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable VA rules and regulations.
Lead Teacher specific responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing a full-day, year-round, and developmentally appropriate curriculum for the class -- including weekly themes and lesson plans, inclusion of STEM-related themes, materials, and rotation of toys and equipment on a regular basis.
- Providing a safe, responsive, and stimulating environment by actively engaging in daily activities and routines.
- Forming and maintaining professional relationships with parents and families.
- Assessing all areas of children's development using the STEM Preschool curriculum.
- Developing and maintaining a portfolio for each child.
- Conducting 1-2 (depending on grade level) parent-teacher conferences per year with each family.
- Supervising and directing a Full-Time Assistant Teacher, Part-Time Assistant Teacher(s), Part-Time Aide(s), and volunteers, as necessary.
- Maintaining all certifications as required.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable MD rules and regulations.
Requirements
The requirements for this role, as follows:
Assistant Teacher
- An Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education or early childhood development (ECE/ECD);
- A Highschool Diploma and a current Child Development Associate (CDA)
- A Highschool Diploma and enrolled in a Child Development Associate (CDA)
Lead Teacher
- Two or more years or more of college, which includes 15 (fifteen) semester hours of early childhood education courses; OR
- Bachelor's degree in (a) child development, (b) early childhood education, OR (c) a related field including, but not limited to, education, psychology, social work, or home economics which includes at least nine (9) college semester hours in child development and/or early childhood education.
