Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Preschool Director to join our team. As the Preschool Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our preschool program and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for our students. This is a leadership role that requires strong administrative and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
Administrative
Responsible for the administration and management of the preschool. Develop institutional policies and make sure that the policies are in accordance with legal requirements.

  • Assure compliance with applicable state and county codes and regulations.
  • Comply with State Licensing Child Care regulations, including completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Adhere to center policies on admission, attendance, and fees.
  • Manage and facilitate the waitlist and enrollment process.
  • Prepare periodic reports on the status of the program for the CEO.
  • Update and maintain the Parent and Employee Handbooks containing procedures and policies.
  • Administer tours for prospective parents.
  • Communicate with parents by e-mail, phone, through formal and informal meetings, and newsletters.
  • Solicit information periodically from families to determine satisfaction and improve the program.
  • Perform various miscellaneous duties, such as answering phones, running errands, picking up supplies, conducting activities, and helping to set up events.
  • Upload pictures and posts using the parent communication app.
  • Maintain various records, including waitlist, enrollments, permission slips, accident reports, medical records, etc.
  • Submit attendance records required for state assistance.

Supervision and Personnel
Hire, train, supervise, and provide professional development for teachers and other staff.

  • Recruit, interview, select, and hire staff compliant with state regulations.
  • Manage teacher and support staff schedules.
  • Manage and monitor teacher performance, planning tools, and classroom practices.
  • Supervise and formally evaluate all center staff.
  • Plan and provide staff development opportunities and training.
  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings monthly.
  • Periodically Conduct group meeting or 1:1 meetings with staff.
  • Supervise teachers and support staff in classrooms and outdoors daily.
  • Manage parent-teacher conference process.

Curriculum and Instruction
Responsible for organizing, implementing, and supervising curriculum and overall educational program

  • Collaborate and oversee with teachers to plan curriculum in line with center strategies.
  • Manage classroom daily routines.
  • Oversee and formally evaluate the curriculum and the instruction of the staff.
  • Monitor children as needed.
  • Procure and organize instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as a classroom aide as needed.

Facilities and Safety
Responsible for the orderly appearance and organization of the facility. Insure and facilitate a safe and educational environment for young children, staff, and families.

  • Monitor the safety of students, staff, and facilities.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and play areas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Procure and use all required safety equipment and train staff on its use.
  • Review safety issues at each staff meeting.
  • Ensure that all staff is CPR and First Aid certified and their certificates are still effective, not expired.

Marketing (Preferred)
Ensure that the preschool is portrayed in the media and social media, showcasing a positive image of the school.

  • Promote the positive image of the center.
  • Utilize local and social media to market and advertise the center.

Financial
Manage financial transactions and prepare tuition logs, tuition notices and handle cash.

We offer competitive compensation packages based on experience.

Requirements

- B.A. with at least 12 core ECE Units required.

- Additional six semester units in administration and supervision of childcare and development.

- or A Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher.

- 3 years of early childhood teaching experience.

- 2 years of educational leadership and management experience.

Current First Aid and CPR certificates (if expired, you are required to complete when the offer is given and provide the proof before the job starting date).

Current Mandated Reporter Training certificate (if expired, you are required to complete when the offer is given and provide the proof before the job starting date).

Current Preventive Health & Safety Certificate with one hour training in nutrition & lead poisoning prevention (if expired, you are required to complete when the offer is given and provide the proof before the job starting date).

Pass background check and meet minimum training requirements for licensure.

Must have a current TB Test and must be immunized against Pertussis and Measles as well as the Flu (if expired, you are required to complete when the offer is given and provide the proof before the job starting date).

Preferred qualifications

M.A. in ECE or Child Development.

5+ years of educational leadership and management experience.

Strong staffing resources and aptitude.

Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and understanding of basic productivity software.

Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese.
